After launching "vsphp_beta_7c.msi" I almost immediately get such an error message:
There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
I have WinXP Pro SP1, VS .NET 2003 installed.

Lite version also doesn`t install, but "phphelp_beta.msi" works fine.

Here is the relevant part of the windows installer log:

juanc says:

I'm releasing a new version (beta 7d) today. Please check a little later.

linal says:

I just downloaded the new version, the installation still says that a required DLL is missing.

By the way there is an error in the link a comma instead of a period.

Windows 2000
VS.NET 2002

juanc says:

What DLL is missing?

Which link is wrong?

linal says:

the download link on that page

http://www.jcxsoftware.com/jcx.corporate6/modules/mydownloads/singlefile...

it points to

It does not say which DLL is missing, only that there is one missing

juanc says:

Fixed the link problem, thanks.

juanc says:

Ok, I think what the problem is. Care to try a private build?

linal says:

I would like to, still havent tried it and feeling very left out :-( lol.

juanc says:

I updated VS.Php lite for Visual Studio .Net 2002

If it works fine, I'll update the full version.

Here is the link:
VS.Php lite beta 7d for Visual Studio .Net 2002

linal says:

The missing DLL error did not show this time.

It has installed sucessfully.

:-)

juanc says:

Excellent, I'm going to update the full version.

linal says:

Problem When I try to create a new PHP project.

"The application for project 'c:\program files\JCX. Software Corp\VS.Php for Visual Studio.NET 2002\PHPProjects\empty_project.phpproj' is not installed

Make sure the application for the project type (.phpproj) is Installed"

juanc says:

I notice that there is the path says: "... VS.Php for Visual Studio.NET ..." instead of "... VS.Php for Visual Studio .NET ..."

Is that what you are seen in the message box?

linal says:

Thats what came up

juanc says:

Can you check if that file is present?

linal says:

The folder exists and so does the file.

Could a registry key which registers the file or something have been missed out? Just an idea.

juanc says:

There is a registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Jcx.Software\VS.Php for Visual Studio .Net 2002

Can you send me its content?

alvus says:

Version 7e for VS 2003 installs successfully, but Norton Antivirus detects msiexec as malicious script and then same problem with "application for the project type (.phpproj)" emerges.

juanc says:

Could be that VS.Php contacts eSellerate.Net to check if there is a new version available?

Maybe we can remove the update check during install. Also add a registry key to disable checking for new versions so when you open a phpproj you don't get the message.

There is no spyware in VS.Php, that is for sure.

Mar says:

Hi,

I've downloaded the PHP.vs from your site yesterday and got the same problem. The installation process goes to ~60% and the error message popups.

I've tried to download the version for VS 2003 twice. Once using FireFox, once using Free Download Manager and got the same results.

I use WinXP SP1 and VS2003 version 7.1.3088. I also use Kaspersky AV 4.5.

Thank you,
Michael.

alvus says:

Nothing have changed.
Same error message.

Mar says:

Hello, it is me again.

I have downloaded vsphp_lite_en_2.1.2.3079.msi and got the same problem.

The exact message is (caption):

VS.Php for Visual Studio .Net 2003 (2.1.2.3079) - Installer Information

(body):

There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personel or package vendor.

Thomaschaaf says:

Try updating to SP 2 Support died for SP 1 anyways..

Mar says:

Is is possible to stay with SP1? I wouldn't like to move to SP2 (just installing all critical updates).
